Overview

Liliane advises on all areas of French, Belgian and EU competition law, with particular expertise in global and EU cartel investigations. She has been involved in high-profile merger and cartel cases and has advised large corporates and financial sponsors across a wide range of sectors, with a specific focus on the energy sector.

Liliane was seconded to the Paris office of Linklaters where she worked on the Peugeot-Fiat merger. She was also seconded to the chemical company Solvay for 5 months in 2022.

Work highlights

Liliane has been a key adviser in a number of significant merger control and antitrust matters. These include advising:

  • John Cockerill: advising on establishing a joint venture named Rely with Technip Energies to offer integrated green hydrogen solutions.
  • Kelkoo: advising on its intervention before the EU General Court in the Google Shopping case.
  • Peugeot: advising on its merger with Fiat. The merger has been recognized by Global Competition Review as Matter of the Year 2021.
  • Linde: advising on its €590m acquisition of the homecare business of Air Products and on the €66bn merger with Praxair.
  • Saint-Gobain: advising on its acquisition of Sika.
  • A national grid operator: advising on the acquisition of a controlling stake in another grid operator.

Professional experience

Liliane is a Patron at Bozar in Belgium. She is part of the Be.Face programme, where she mentors law students from diverse backgrounds.

She moderated the panel on “Meet the Enforcers: The EC's DMA Team” together with Vittorio Cottafavi at the 72nd Annual ABA Antitrust Spring Meeting (April 2024).

Liliane worked in the European Parliament for a year, and worked at Clifford Chance in Paris for a couple of years (in between her time at Linklaters).

Education and qualifications

Liliane holds a Master in European and International Business Law from Paris Dauphine University (France) and an LLM in European Legal Studies from Cardiff University (UK). She obtained her undergraduate degree in Public Law at the University of Amiens in France. 

Liliane works in French and English.
