Overview

Stuart is a Counsel in Linklaters’ Corporate Trust and Agency practice, which supports and works closely with the firm’s global Finance & Projects practice.

Stuart regularly advises:

  • corporate trustees, paying agents, account banks, calculation agents, fiscal agents and cash managers on a range of capital markets products including securitisations, debt issuances and repacks;
  • security agents and facility agents in relation to asset financings, project financings and leveraged financing facilities;
  • depositaries in relation to Global Depositary Receipts; and 
  • on legacy work including transaction amendments, exercises of discretion, consent solicitations, litigation advice and advice in relation to transaction defaults and rating agency downgrades.

Stuart has a particular interest in Islamic finance and has advised several corporate trustee houses on sukuk transactions, including advising on the first South African sovereign sukuk, the first UK sovereign sukuk and the first aviation sukuk guaranteed by an Export Credit Agency.

Professional experience

Prior to joining Linklaters, Stuart worked for Clifford Chance for over ten years, where he spent time on secondment to their Frankfurt office and on a client secondment to The Bank of New York Mellon.

Education and qualifications

Stuart studied jurisprudence (law) at Wadham College, Oxford University.
