Overview
Subir advises sponsors, funds and financial institutions across a variety of finance transactions in the Energy & Infrastructure space, including project finance, infrastructure acquisitions, digital infrastructure and refinancings and restructurings, in particular in the UK and Europe. Subir has extensive knowledge on the above product areas and assets based on his experience.
Subir is highly regarded as a technical lawyer and has built a diverse finance practice within the energy and infrastructure sectors. He is valued for his commercial judgement and outstanding ability to successfully manage challenging deals.
Subir is based in our London office having previously spent some time in our Moscow office.
Work Highlights
- Data4: Acting for Lenders to Brookfield on its acquisition of the European data centre operator Data4.
- Neuconnect: Acting as lead legal counsel to the project company and sponsors (Meridiam, Allianz Group and Kansai Electric Power) on the €2.8bn project financing for Neuconnect.
- Brookfield: advising on the financing of the acquisition of 49% in a portfolio of social infrastructure from Samhällsbyggnadsbolaget i Norden (SBB).
- Cube Infrastructure: Acting on the acquisition by Cube Infrastructure of Urbaser’s Nordic from Spanish integrated waste management group Urbaser.
- Budapest Airport: advising the sponsors on a series of debt restructurings involving combination of commercial bank debt and institutional investors.
- NNG: advising EDF and ESB, the sponsors on the development, construction and ECA-backed financing of the Neart na Gaoithe offshore wind farm in Scotland.
- Beatrice offshore windfarm: advising the sponsors on the Beatrice offshore wind farm, then Scotland’s biggest wind farm.
Education and qualifications
Subir holds a B.L.S. LL.B. law degree from the University of Mumbai, India. Subir is admitted to practice in the UK (England and Wales).
