DC Agenda Summer 2024

Welcome to our Summer Edition of DC Agenda

In this edition we discuss potential implications of some of the current pensions proposals – small pots, decumulation – in a little more detail. With the recent announcement of a general election, however, it is difficult to know what may happen.

One would assume if the Conservatives were re-elected into Government they would continue on largely the same trajectory on pensions. Labour set out plans in January 2024, which we may see expanded upon in their manifesto  when published, indicating they would “review the current state of the pensions and retirement savings landscape… to evaluate whether the current framework will deliver sustainable retirement incomes for individuals”. They also indicated an intention to continue with the Mansion House reforms, especially those focused on increasing investment into UK businesses; so we suspect the differences between the two main parties may not be that substantial, but more about pace and emphasis.

We hope you enjoy this edition of DC Agenda. As always, if you have any feedback or thoughts for topics you would like to see covered, please do contact me or any of your usual Linklaters contacts.
