Our community investment work applies professional skills from across our business to make a positive social impact. In the last year, volunteers from our offices around the world have spent over 5,500 hours supporting young people, or those from underrepresented groups, to develop their skills and realise their aspirations.

By working in partnership with local charities, social enterprises, schools and community groups, we help individuals who may otherwise be “hard to reach” to aim high and achieve their goals, promote equal access to opportunities and ultimately diversify representation in business and society. An indirect aim of this work is to promote diversity in the workforce. From mentoring to training sessions, from entrepreneurs to school students, below are a few examples of hundreds of programmes we invest in on an ongoing basis.

HER Fund 

HER Fund is an NGO in Hong Kong which supports marginalised women and promotes women’s civic participation. By becoming trainers and mentors, our volunteers were able to directly support these women to build their self-confidence and enable their voices to be heard. We developed a training programme on presentation skills to increase the confidence of marginalised female leaders in communicating their work.

400Contacts

In Sweden, we support 400contacts, an organisation that helps newcomers to the country enter the labour market by providing supplementary courses, Swedish language classes and an opportunity to learn more about local work culture. Mustafe was an asylum seeker in Stockholm when he was introduced to his mentor at Linklaters.

"I really appreciated your support and connecting me to the mentorship program with Linklaters. It was a short period of time but it really shaped my life. At that time, I was an asylum seeker waiting for my residence permit but the phone call with [my mentor] helped me a lot. I remember him saying 'don't give up, do everything you can, then you will get what you deserve.' From that day I started applying for both jobs and Swedish universities. Now, I have got my residency permit and I am doing the second semester of my Masters Program in Public Planning for Sustainable Development.”

The World's Largest Lesson 

Our Dubai office has worked in partnership with two key clients – DP World and PwC – to establish and carry out a programme delivering training sessions in schools in Dubai on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (the “SDGs”). This is part of a global initiative to deliver the World’s Largest Lesson, which is designed to get children thinking about the biggest challenges faced by the world today, to introduce children to the SDGs, and to start generating ideas about what can be done to achieve the SDGs and create a better world.
